Why Induction Seal Dairy Products

Some 30 years ago, the UK milk industry had a serious problem – milk was leaking out of the plastic bottles and causing a high number of customer complaints.

As well as the damage to brand reputation, the cost of returns was also starting to impinge on producers’ profits as when one bottle leaks, supermarkets return the entire batch to the producer – along with the bill.

This is when Enercon came in with a solution – by adding a simple piece of foil to the container, leaks could be prevented.

Induction soon spread through the industry and today Enercon Industries is responsible for sealing over 4.2 billion milk bottles every year – a figure which continues to grow as more and more manufacturers in the dairy industry begin induction sealing.

Since then induction cap sealing has also spread across a wider range of dairy products and is suitable for fresh, UHT and flavoured milk, cream, yogurt and drinkable yogurt.

As well as leak prevention, another major reason for the popularity of induction cap sealing in the dairy industry is to protect products from germs in order to extend shelf life.

The added protection of a foil also facilitates transport, as products become resistant to temperature variations, rough handling and can therefore travel further, for longer periods of time.
